5. Has GOD Left Israel forever?

Lets answer couple questions at first.

Isn’t God same yesterday, today and tomorrow?
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever
(Heb.13:8).

I am he; I am the first, I also am the last(Isa.48:12)

Does He knows everything ahead before it happened?

and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them (Isa.42:8,9);

I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done (Isa. 46:9,10)

Did He said that His word is forever?
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
(Mat.24:35

For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast (Ps.33:9)
thy word is settled in heaven(Ps.119:89).

Did He really said to Israel That He will always love them?
 I have loved you with everlasting love”(Jer.31:3)

So how we can say that God was so disappointed with the Jews that He decided to leave them forever despite of His promise to theirs forefathers?

Some people say: “But sometimes God changes
His decisions as it was with city of Nineveh. So
when Jews killed His Son He turned away from them”.  That is very wrong conclusion. God knew that the people of Nineveh will repent when they will hear the prophet. And, of course, as we know from the prophesies about Christ, God knew that Jesus will be crucified by His own people. He knew that when He said : “If those ordinances (of the moon and the stars) depart before Me…then the seed of Israel shall also cease from being a nation before Me forever”(Jer.31:35,36).

Through the same prophet Isaiah, through whom He foretold the death of Jesus (ch.53), He said
«But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation» (Isa.45:17), «I have redeemed thee» (Isa.43:1; 44:22).

God knew, that Israel will turn away from Him:
And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou
shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, … and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them
(Deu.31:16);

 «for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb» (Isa.48: 8),

but He still said:
«O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb,… And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear» (Isa.46:3-4);

Adventists teach, that all true Christians now are Israel of God (that is true), the real Israel does not exist for God anymore, and consequently the prophets of Old Testament, speaking about Israel, had in mind not the real, but the spiritual Israel, i.e. us, former Gentiles, who became Israel through faith in Jesus. It is a great mistake, which brought to a misunderstanding of all prophecies about the end of days.

With the prophets of Old Testament God spoke about their people, about the real Jews:
«I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth» (Zeph.3:20).
«All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword» (Amos 9:10).
For the Lord has an eye upon mankind as upon all the tribes of Israel” (Zech.9:1).
for among My people are found wicked men”(Jer.5:26).
«
for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call» (Joel 2:32).

Why, how do you think, Jesus had to be born in Israel and had to choose the disciples from the tribes of Israel?
Why Jesus was sent only to Israel (Mat.5:24), and, while He was on earth, He directed His disciples go to preach only to Israel (Mat.10:6)?
Why God put the names of 12 tribes of Israel on the gates of New Jerusalem?

Because God will never forget His firstborn.

 Paul was concerned for Israelites, that though God promised them, that to them belongs "the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises " (Rom. 9:4), the only few still had accepted Christ. Further Paul told, that  God’s word about Israelites has come true, but not about all of them, because "They are not all Israel who are of Israel" (Rom.9:6).

It means, the word of God, that the glory and the adoption belongs to Israel, has come true, but the word was about the true Israel - Israel of people like Jacob,
"a remnant according to the election of grace" (Rom. 11:5).

As you remember Israel (Jacob) had the brother – Esau. God promised to their grandfather – Abraham, that his seed will inherit the adoption, and the glory… However none of His promises were received by Isaac’s  firstborn - Esau. To be a firstborn was a very honorable position in a Hebrew family - the tradition, which was established by God Himself: “all firstborns are Mine (Num.3:13,8:17; Ex.13:2).  When  Esau “for one morsel of meat sold his birthright(Heb.12:16), he ignored one of the most important law of God, he refused to be a man of God, he wanted to eat more than he wanted to obey God.  God said: "I loved Jacob, and I hate Esau" (Mal.1:2-3).

Thus, the real Israel that God chose were not all descendants of Abraham (people like Esau and Jacob), but the descendants of Abraham, who obeyed Him (only people like Jacob).

Paul spoke many times, that through the faith in Jesus Gentiles became God's Israel (Gal.3:29; 6:15-16; Rom.9:8). However it does not mean, that there among real descendants of Abraham there is no God's Israel any longer. Then who are the apostles? It doesn't mean, that before Jesus there was no God's Israel there either. Jesus has named Nathanael as "Israelite indeed" when he hadn't accept Jesus yet: “an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit” (John 1:47). The true Israel, the  Old Testament prophets  were written about, were honest and feared God people - the Israelites like Jacob: «Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart» (Ps.73:1).

Though the Jews frequently betrayed God, it does not mean, that all Jews were rejected by Him. God has explained, why Jews betrayed Him all the time: “for among My people are found wicked men”(Jer.5:26). He promised that at the end of days :“I will take away from your midst those who rejoice in your pride…I will leave in your midst a meek and humble people, and they shall trust in the name of the Lord. The remnant of Israel shall do no unrighteousness and speak no lies” (Zephaniah 3:11-13, also Amos 9:9-11).  Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved (Rom 9:27, Isa.11:21,22).

We are gentiles in the past, were included in the God’s family through our faith in Jesus. We are adopted children, Israel of Jacob’s type is the firstborn:  « Israel is my son, even my firstborn”(Ex.4:22)..

 We - gentiles in the past - became God's Israel after  Jesus' ministry. Israel of Jacob’s type always was and is God's Israel. We were  grafted to the holy tree of God's Israel, and he is the root and branches of this tree, and «...if the root (Abraham and the patriarchs) be holy, so are the branches (all Israel like Jacob). And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree (gentiles), wert grafted in among them... Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee... because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:... And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again» (Rom.11:16-18,20,23).

By stating that Jews can not be called God's Israel because they had rejected Jesus, we are "boasting against the branches", because Israel like Jacob is a very special for God, it is His prodigal son, who will be always welcome to come back to the Father.

Through the faith in Jesus we were included to God’s Israel, but we not had replaced them: «he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation.  And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad» (John 11:51,52);
« And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, … and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd
» (John 10:16);

Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel ” (Micah 5:3);

"That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us "  (Eph.2:12-14)

Israelites today, probably, do not cause in us the admiration by their righteousness, but what nation today does? Isaiah told: «We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name» (Isa.63:19). In our time of temptations people went more far away from God. Today Israel is not holy at all, but it doesn't mean, that we are better, than he; that we have deserved greater, than he.

He was born first of the world of the people, he is an oldest son, we are younger, we are adopted (Gal.4:5). He is the heir by the law, by his birthright, by the right of His Promise, we are heirs because of His mercy (Rom.15:8,9).

God said: «This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.… I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy (Israel) transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins»(Isa.43:21,25).

Paul said: «God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew» (Rom.11:2).

All prophecies are telling that God will forgive the people of Israel: «thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.. For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name;... The God of the whole earth shall he be called. For the LORD hath called thee as... a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.,... For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee... with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee,... For the mountains shall depart,... but my kindness shall not depart from thee» (Isa.54:4-10).

«For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance» (Ps.94:14).

«For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever» (2Sam.7:24).

«Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee» (Isa.49:15).

«If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season; Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant » (Jer.33:20-21, 24-26;
Ps 89:30,34).

"
And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations... And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands... When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice... For the LORD thy God is a merciful God; he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them " (Deu.4:27-31).

 "If his (David) children forsake my law.. and keep not my commandments... Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips…His seed shall endure for ever" (Ps.89:30-37; 2Sam.7:14-16; 1Chron.17:13-14).

Then why till now is the disagreement about this matter in Christian circles? Why does no one among the angels challenge the birthright of Jesus, and we, people, are challenging the birthright of the nation chosen by God? Because the prophecy about 70 weeks (we will see further) was understood incorrectly.

Almost two thousand years God does not communicate with His elected nation. And this circumstance became a temptation for many to think, that God rejected His people forever. But He has not rejected, just the time has not come yet. As Jesus came in the world, «when the fulness of the time was come» (Gal.4:4), i.e. when His time had come (in 69 weeks after the commandment to restore Jerusalem was given), so God again will turn His face to His nation when «the fulness of the time» will come.

«the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice... Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, …and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days» (Hosea 3:4-5).

«Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant» (Ezek.16:60-61).

Today many think, that Jews are rejected by God forever, but soon «in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God » (Hosea 1:10).

And today in Israel there are two Israels.

                   6. The prophecy about the tree

Even turning away from His chosen people for so long time, God  continues to keep His promises given to them. Thus, to Daniel the prophet was given to decode the prophetical dream of king Nebuchadnezzar about the great tree. That dream-prophecy was not  just about the king, it was also about Jewish nation (Dan.4:10-16, Isa.6:13).

 p5ad.tree.jpg (27785 bytes)

The prophecy was telling the tree (Jewish kingdom) will be cut down, but the root will be left in the ground  with band of iron (Rome) and brass (Greece), and seven times will pass over it (4:16). After that the kingdom will be restored (4:26).

When the prophecy was given to Daniel Jews were in Babylonian slavery. Before that through the prophet Jeremiah God told, that the Jewish land will be under the slavery for 70 prophetical years (Jer.29:10; 25:11; 2Chron.36:21). Thus in the time when the prophecy was given to Daniel there the prophecy about 70 years was still fulfilling. So the time of  the seven times of the prophecy about the tree had to be start right after the 70 prophetical years of slavery would finished. The prophecy tells that when the seven times will finish Jewish kingdom will be restored.

As we know from the history, in 609BC the king of Judah Josiah was killed by pharaoh Necho II in the valley of Megiddo (2King. 23:29-30; 2Chron.35:22-24 -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necho_II   http://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/necho2.htm  http://experts.about.com/e/0/600s_BC.htm  http://www.answers.com/topic/necho ).

His son Jehoahaz succeeded him and governed only three months. Next year, in 608BC, pharaoh Necho II came against Jerusalem and took Jehoahaz in prison (2King.23:31-33). Jehoahaz became the first king of Judah to die in exile. Pharaoh Necho II enforced a tribute of 100 talents of silver and one talent of gold upon the kingdom of Judah , and appointed Jehoahaz's brother - Eliakim as king.  Eliakim got the throne name Jehoakim. The name was given by Egyptians as sign of his vassal status (2King 23:33-35, 2Chron.36:3-4). So Jewish kingdom became a vassal country under Egyptians since 608BC. In 605BC , after Babylonians defeated Egypt, Jehoakim became a vassal of Nebuchadnezzar, the first Judeans were taken captive (Daniel was among them).

70 prophetical years (x360÷365) or 69 solar years from 608BC finished (608BC+69) in 539BC when Cyrus II had released Jews from the Babylonian slavery.

 In 538BC  first Jews returned to the land of their forefathers. They were not slaves any longer but from that time on they did not have their full independence either. Since 4th century BC Israel again had to pay taxes to Egypt, then to Rome. There was no unity, which they had before the Babylonian invasion. There were no kings anymore, as God foretold. Thus, the last king of Israel Zedekiah and the last king of Judah Jehoiachin were taken captive by the king of Babylon (2King 25:7; 2King 24:12). God through the prophet Ezekiel told to Zedekiah: «take off the crown… it shall be no more, until He come whose right it is; and I will give it Him» (21:25-27). Through Jeremiah God told about Jehoiachin: «no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah» (22:30).

That means that there, in Israel will not be kings anymore, only Jesus will be the next king there.

Jewish kingdom did not exist anymore. God promised that the kingdom (the stamp of its roots) will be restored (will grow) after the 7 times (Dan.4:10-16, Isa.6:13). The time = 360 days/years (Rev.12:14 - time + times + half of time=1260 days), 7 times = 360x7 = 2520 prophetical years or (x360÷365) 2485 solar years. 538BC+2485 years + 1 year (cm.ch.1) = 1948 AD- year of the establishing of the state of Israel, the kingdom  without a king.

« Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? (May 14, 1948) or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children» (Isa.66:8).

God keeps His promises to Jewish people, because «the gifts and calling of God are without repentance» (Rom.11:29), i.e. they are eternal.
