P6
I do not know about you, but my heart can’t be pleased with  that what is rejected by my mind.  My heart and my mind are created to live in harmony with each other. In order to believe in Christ as a Savior and Lord, it hasn’t been required from anyone to commit an intellectual suicide.

I believe the testimony of the apostles, because 11 of them out of  12 -  perished as martyrs. They were killed because they believed in resurrection of Christ and in Jesus as the Son of God. They were tortured, beaten by whips and, eventually subjected to  most painful punishments known to those times:

Peter was crucified; Andrew was crucified; Matthew was killed by a sword; James the son of Alphaeus was crucified; Philip was crucified; Simon was crucified; Thaddaeus was killed with arrows; James, brother of Jesus was beaten to death  by stones; Tomas was pierced by a spear; Bartholomew was crucified; James the son of Zebedee was killed by a sword. Thousand of first Christians  were killed by Israelites and were punished by the Romans in 64AD at the time of the emperor Nero’s governing.

When they wrote and spoke, they acted as the eyewitnesses of the events, described by them. Peter said: «For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty» ( 2Pet.1:16).
John emphasized, what the Jews know for they were witnesses: «That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us" (1John.1:1). «Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word (Luke 1:1).
Paul said, that once resurrected Jesus appeared before the crowd, in which there were more than 500 His followers. In that time the majority of them was still alive and could confirm
Paul’s  words (1 Cor.15:3-8).

In the picture there is the death of John the Baptist.

The main contents of the witnesses of the disciples of Jesus is the message about His resurrection. At first they themselves couldn't believe it. They believed it only after they had received a lot of the incontestable proof. Recollect Tomas, who said that he wouldn’t believe in the resurrection of Christ unless he would touch His wounds left by the nails. Subsequently by his sacrificed death Tomas proved, that he did became a believer.

Then Peter. He renounced of  Christ in the court several times. And eventually rejected Him. But something happened with this coward. Some days after the crucifixion and the burial of Christ Peter  came to Jerusalem and, in spite of the threat of  death penalty, bravely spoke in his sermons, that Jesus was Christ, and that He was resurrected. The authorities arrested the followers of Christ, beat them up, but soon they again appeared  in the streets of Jerusalem with their sermon.

Then according to the  encyclopedia "Britannica", Origen  informs that Peter was crucified his head downwards. According to the witnesses of Herbert Workman  Peter asked to crucify him by his head downwards, as an unworthy one to suffer similar to his Savior.
