the
eyewitnesses
of
the events,

( 2Pet.1:16).
In the picture there is the death of John
the Baptist. The
main contents of the witnesses of the disciples of Jesus is the message about
His resurrection. At first they themselves couldn't believe it. They believed
it only after they had received a lot of the incontestable proof. Recollect Tomas,
who said that he wouldn’t believe in the resurrection of Christ unless he
would touch His wounds left by the nails. Subsequently by his sacrificed death Tomas
proved, that he did became a believer.
Then Peter. He renounced of Christ in the court several times. And eventually rejected Him. But something happened with this coward. Some days after the crucifixion and the burial of Christ Peter came to Jerusalem and, in spite of the threat of death penalty, bravely spoke in his sermons, that Jesus was Christ, and that He was resurrected. The authorities arrested the followers of Christ, beat them up, but soon they again appeared in the streets of Jerusalem with their sermon. Then
according to the encyclopedia "Britannica", Origen
informs that Peter was crucified his head downwards. According to the
witnesses of Herbert Workman Peter
asked to crucify him by his head downwards, as an unworthy one to suffer similar to
his Savior. |
